The Right People, Right Seats Self-Assessment
A free, 12-question self-assessment that shows whether your leadership team has the right people (who share your values) in the right seats (roles they understand, want, and have the capacity to do).
Takes about ten minutes. You'll get your score, what it means, and the first three moves to make.
What does it measure?
- Structure: Is the org built around functions, or around people?
- Seats: Does every key seat have a clear owner and clear outcomes?
- People: Does each leader share your core values?
- Fit: Does each leader understand the seat, want it, and have the capacity for it?
Right person shares the core values.
Right seat gets it, wants it, and has the capacity to do it.
Find them a seat that fits.
The goal for every key seat.
Make the change.
Values come first. Address it.
What are A, B, and C players?
Will sorts the people in key seats into three groups. A players: huge immediate value adds. B players: keep the bus moving. C players: drag everyone down.
His rule of thumb: it takes 2 A players or 4 B players to even out one C player. That is why the self-assessment looks hard at values and fit, and why any seat that isn't a fit needs a people plan.
A players: huge immediate value adds.
B players: keep the bus moving.
C players: drag everyone down.
1 C = 2 A
1 C = 4 B
